About Bangalore
Bangalore is the principal administrative, cultural, commercial and industrial centre of the state of Karnataka. The city, which is spread over an area of 2190 square kilometres, enjoys a pleasant and equable climate throughout the year. Its tree-lined streets and abundant greenery have led to it being called the 'Garden City' of India.
HOW TO REACH THERE
By Air : The airport is 13 km from the city and flights are available to all major cities.
By Road : The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses and goa roadways operate here.
By Rail : Banglore has two major railway staion and are connected to all major cities
MAIN ATTRACTIONS :
• Bull Temple : It has huge granite monolith of Nandi and was built by Kempegowda. It is a symbolic monument of the 16th century depicting dravidian style architecture. The statue of the bull is carved out from a single stone and it's original colour was grey.
• Tipu's Temple : This summer retreat of Tipu was built in Teak wood. Built in 1791, the palace houses museum that has a collection of artefacts relating to Hyder Tipu regime.
• Bangalore Palace : The Snow view point is located at a height of 2270 meter above sea level. It can be reached by the ropeway or the ponies available at Mallital.
• Nanda Devi Mela : Nanda Devi Mela is a fair of great religious and cultural significance. August / September sees the whole area coming alive,when the festival held in honour of goddesses,Nanda and Sunanda,the patron goddess of Kumaon,comes around.
• Hanuman Garhi : Three kilometres south of Tallital lies Hanuman Garhi, where there is a small temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The place is also a good spot for viewing the setting sun.
• Tiffin Top : A memorial to an English lady believed to have been killed in an air crash. The spot commands a sectional view of the town and the nearby region. The peak was known as Ayarpatta Hill.
• Ayarpatta Hill : is a haven of trees-oak, fir, deodar, pine and rhododendron. Some of the roads are narrow and still paved with brick. On this hill stands Gurney House, home of the great Jim Corbett, the fearless famous hunter, conservationist and writer to remember. The house was named after Corbett's father. It is now a museum of Corbett memorabilia.
• Zoo Garden : Nainital has a small but a very beautiful Zoological garden. There are many animals kept here which includes Deers, Bears, Tigers and many more. The hygiene and cleanness of the zoo is a point which attracts the mind even if one ignores it. Not surprising this zoo is one of the most clean zoos in the country. The zoo can be reached on foot or taxi can be hired.
• Bhowali : Bhowali is 11 kms away from Nainital on the Haldwani-Almora Road. It is quite famous as a market known for its variety of fruits. It also houses the famous Sainik School of India. This place is said to be good for those patients who ail from problems of the lungs. There is also a Sanatorium here.
• Kilburi : Kilburi is slightly away from Nainital, about 12 kms from the main town. Located amidst green forests, it is peaceful and quiet and offers a very good view of the Himalayas.
