THE HOTEL ASHOKA - CHENNAI

Started in the year 1974, Hotel Ashoka is as regal as its name suggests. Spread over two and a half acres of sprawling land, Hotel Ashoka is one of the oldest and the best hotels in Chennai. You can find Ashoka at # 47, Pantheon road, Egmore, Chennai and is 20 kilometers from the airport, 4 kilometers from the central railway station and 5 kilometers from the bus stand. Ashoka has got a unique architecture, it comprises of five separate buildings (blocks). The first block you will come to is the Reception Block. The reception and inquiry desk forms the lower section of this block and is where you have to register your name for stay.

ACCOMODATION

Block 1 has 25 rooms in its structure followed by Block 2 which also has 25 rooms in its structure, similar to the first Block. Then there is the Round Block and is the hot favorite with the clients most of whom are old timers to Ashoka and are regular visitors to the place. The Round Block has a very loyal following indeed because of its curious structure and awesome architecture, which is a high light. The Round block is spiral inside and is the only structure in India to have this architecture. Every two steps you climb will bring you to a room. The rooms are built into a spiral and each room is slightly higher than the other is. The round block has 49 double rooms with balconies attached to them.

ABHINANDHAN:
It can seat 140 people at a time and serves both North and South Indian cuisine.Abhinandhan is a perfect place to spend an evening with friends and family. Lunch usually carries special features in the sense you will be pampered and you might find it difficult to actually zero in on a dish from the various delicacies outlined in the menu. Sumptuous is what would come to your mind.

SHEETAL ICE CREAM PARLOUR:
Next to Abhinandhan, you will find an Ice Cream parlour called Sheetal.Sheetal is an outdoor place with colorful umbrellas adding life to the ambience. You can taste different flavors of Ice Creams and sample mouth-watering chaats at Sheetal. Sheetal is for the out door people who like to have an evening of fun.
There is also a permit room (bar) near the mini conference halls where you can sample some of the finest brands of liquor.

FACILITIES
The Madras Hotel Ashoka has facilities and features that will make things very easy for you. As in Palm Grove, you will find a laundry, a doctor on call, locker facilities, travel desk, and a foreign exchange desk. Apart from these features, you will also avail of Personal CC TVs, telephones with direct dialing feature for local calls and a unique facility of a 24 hour check out time limit that again gives you a lot of flexibility with time management. You also have provision for A/C that can be individually controlled. The Madras Hotel Ashoka is equipped with multipurpose halls.
Sight seeing, Airport pick up and drop facility will be provided on request.
