THE HOTEL MONAL - NAINITAL

Hotel Monal is the first structure one notices on entering pangot. Every corner of the hotel offers a different view of its surroundings. One can get a glimpse of the Himalayas in one direction, the forests of the ‘Tarai’ region in the other, the terraced fields and the village houses in yet another direction.

ACCOMMODATION

The hotel has three rooms on the ground floor, built in the colonial fashion with wood paneling on the walls and floor and bay windows overlooking the valley, a perfect place to sit and sip a cup of coffee and enjoy the beauty of the setting sun.

The first floor also offer a view of the valley and the forests of the ‘tarai’ region. An additional kitchen has been built on each floor for people who like to prepare their own meals.

There is a restaurant and a conference room on the second floor.

The third floor has a six bedded dormitory which can accommodate six to twelve people.

The terrace on this floor is an ideal place to bask in the winter sun or to doze off without a care in the world.

The roof top provides a spectacular view of the Himalayas.

The hotel provides basic amenities to its guests to make their stay as comfortable as possible. The bathrooms get a supply of running hot water.

Activities

Bardiya Village Wildlife Camp (BVWC) offers a wide variety of activities which includes: elephant safari deep into the National Park provides excellent viewing of wildlife. A scenic raft trip down the Karnali River offers aquatic wildlife viewing of species such as fresh water dolphin, otters, turtles, gharial, other aquatics and bird life in abundance. The jeep safari through the National Park provides added opportunity to view the wildlife of Bardiya. Within the park is a net work of wild life trails along which one can explore the area accompanied by experienced naturalist and wildlife trackers. Excellent photographic opportunities are plentiful. Serene walk to the local village inhabited by the Tharu People will give an insight of village life. Bird watching trips inside or outside the National Park is fun for bird lovers. Other activities include elephant briefing by one of the naturalists at the elephant stable. A cultural Tharu dance program with campfire is organized at the camp. Anglers can enjoy fishing the great mahasheer fish in the Karnali River which can be organized. The BVWC is a unique place to stay for adventure seekers.
